To date, SISA has over the years, have negotiated and brought to the attention of the University issues that have resulted in the following improvements to student welfare:
1. 24h Late Lab computer facilities at the Hawthorn Library
2. Improved administrative services at university departments about sensitivities when dealing with international students.
3. The introduction of installment payments for all students , so that the costs of education be be distributed over the year
3. The addition of an exclusive International Student Lounge at the UN Building.
4. Free Access to the Hawthorn Aquatic Centre for swimming facilities.
5. Change of Academic Policy that effects students to make it fair for all students.
However there is so much we can do, unless you , our dear international students start voicing out your concerns and tell us what bothers/disturbs you.
The following are the initiatives we are currently in negotiation with the university to have implemented . Help us by supporting us with your emails or assistance.
1. Industry Based Learning to be made accessible by International Students
2. Introduction of Transport Concessions for international and postgraduate Students, of which Victoria is one of the only states to be discriminating in this manner.
And importantly , we want to thank in special reference to the governing Swinburne University body for listening and understanding the concerns we have voiced out, and to previous Committee members for their dedication to the cause.
The acquirement of International Student(IS)Lounge by SISA is to provide a space for international and local student to socialize. It is the place where students can come to relax,socialize and gather information about SISA services and events. SISA Office is located next to the IS lounge. Students are welcomed to drop by the office to talk about anything with SISA representatives.
The IS Lounge provide the following free facilities:
- tables,chairs and sofas.
- Microwave ovens.
- TV

Regulations:
Students, this is your lounge. Please take care of it.
-Keep the IS lounge clean
-Cover your food when using microwaves
-Clean microwave after each use
-Turn off TV after use

As representatives of all international students in Swinburne university and as international students ourselves, SISA endeavor to raise the standards of welfare, be it academic or social, through relentless negotiation and activism of relevant bodies in or out the university. We do our best to achieve fairness for all, regardless of enrolments and end all inequalities international students face .
Additionally SISA acts as an intermediary or "Go Between" between international students and the University and will provide above all our commitment and attention to any issues that you may face.
So please don't hesitate to give us an email or a ring, because there has not been a problem we have not found a satisfactory resolution for yet .
Speak out , because if you don't , nobody will speak out for you .
