Things don't always work out the way you want. You have a problem with your studies, fail a couple of subjects, find the transition to university difficult. We are here to help. Swinburne Student Union offers an advocacy service for all of our members and non members can also access the service (our fees for non members are outlined below). The University through the SSAA has set up an advocacy service which all students can access however the SSU is the only body at Swinburne that provides a truly independent advocacy service ensuring that your education is not compromised should you require support.
We can provide advice, support and representation for you if you face a Progress Review committee. We can help you if you need to apply for Special Consideration, want your work remarked or if you want to apply for a special exam. If you have problems with your course, or those who teach it, we can offer strategies to resolve the situation.
Swinburne Student Union (SSU) recognises that even the most committed student can sometimes fall on hard times, or suffer setbacks. What if there's a car accident the day before an exam? Or the marking system for an assignment doesn't seem to be fair? Or you've never heard of “plagiarism”?! The Union 's education support service is there to facilitate better outcomes for students, and to help out when problem situations arise.
The Student Union also provides ongoing support for students at Swinburne. The transition to university is not always easy however your Student Union is there to provide support and advocacy should you require it.

Progress Review * $10.00 per half hour (or part thereof)
Appeal * $15.00 per half hour (or part thereof)
Plagarism and/or Discipline * $15.00 per half hour (or part thereof)
All other matters * $10.00 per half hour (or part thereof)
* You will have to pay for preparation time, letter writing and all other matters pertaining to your case not just for the face to face meeting. You will be provided with an itemised account for all services rendered.
